An enemy that is near-unbeatable. Take one step in the water, any body of water larger than a puddle, and you are doomed. He'll grab you with his tentacles and drag you underneath (even if there is practically no underneath) for an instant kill.
Fortunately there are certain items that can stun it for the duration of a level, rendering water non-instant kill and swimmable.
The water equivalent of the Bottomless Pit Liboss fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/201… that dwells in Non-Bottomless Pits, waiting for fools to fall in it, and smash the living daylights out of it!
